Postpartum visits
A postpartum visit records an encounter after a birth: the vitals you took, the care you covered, and any needs you assessed. Visits show up in the Encounters section of the patient chart.
Recording a visit
Section titled “Recording a visit”From a patient’s chart, choose Add encounter in the rail (or Add visit in the Encounters section) to open New postpartum visit. Editing an existing one opens Edit postpartum visit with the same form. It’s organised into sections:
- Visit — Visit type, Date (required), Start time, End time, Duration (minutes), Setting and Attending midwife, plus optional Mileage.
- Course of care — attach the visit to a Birth. When it’s attached, Weeks since birth is calculated for you from the birth date; otherwise you can enter it by hand.
- Vitals — BP systolic, BP diastolic, Heart rate and Temperature.
- Care covered at this visit — check off the areas you covered.
- Need assessment — flag any needs, with room for detail on each.
- Notes — free-text Visit notes.
Choose Save visit to record a new visit, or Save changes when editing. Cancel discards your edits.
Deleting a visit
Section titled “Deleting a visit”Editing a visit shows a Delete action. It confirms with “Delete this postpartum visit?” before removing the record; the patient and their birth records are untouched.
