Messages
Messages is the in-app inbox for notes between people in your practice. Open it from the sidebar, next to Calendar.
It is not email, and it is not Help Scout. Notes stay inside BirthTracks, encrypted at rest, and never leave as a copy in outbound mail.
Received and Sent
Section titled “Received and Sent”- Received is your inbox: date, who sent it, subject, and the patient it concerns (if any). Unread rows are shown in bold.
- Sent is everything you have sent, newest first.
Open a subject to read the full note. Opening a message addressed to you marks it read.
Compose
Section titled “Compose”Choose Compose (or the button on the Messages header) to write a note.
- To — a colleague in this practice, or Entire practice (everyone else who can read Messages).
- Concerning Patient — optional. Tag the patient the note is about; the name appears on the list and links to their chart when you open the message.
- Subject and Message.
The read-only Viewer role can read Received and Sent but cannot compose. The write-only Scribe role does not see Messages at all.
Privacy
Section titled “Privacy”Subject, body, and the Concerning Patient tag are protected health information. They stay inside your practice: no other practice can see them, and BirthTracks does not email a copy of a message (outbound email is not a BAA-covered channel). Do not paste a message into Help Scout or another tool that is not covered by a BAA.
